Maintaining digital accessibility is not a one-time effort — it requires consistent monitoring, evaluation, and improvement. To ensure App State meets and sustains WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, the university is exploring the most effective tools and processes for ongoing assessment.
We are currently evaluating platforms such as:
- Silktide – A comprehensive web accessibility monitoring tool that automatically scans university websites for accessibility issues, content quality, SEO, and usability. It provides prioritized recommendations and trend reports to help units address barriers proactively.
- YuJa Panorama – An accessibility solution for learning management systems (such as AsULearn) that automatically generates alternative formats, identifies accessibility issues within course content, and provides guidance for remediation.
These and similar tools allow us to:
- Detect accessibility issues in real time across multiple platforms and file types
- Track progress over time and measure compliance against legal and institutional standards
- Provide actionable reports to departments, units, and content owners
- Support transparency and accountability in our accessibility work
As tools and workflows are selected, we will share implementation timelines, training opportunities, and instructions for accessing reports. The goal is to provide every content creator — from faculty to staff — with clear, timely information to maintain accessible digital experiences for all users.
