PDF Makeover Week 2

Week 2 (March 14-18): Transition PDFs to more accessible formats

Week 2 Goals

  1. Focus on the PDFs that you identified as candidates for converting to an accessible format, such as a Google Doc, web page, or web form.

  2. Begin converting identified PDFs to an accessible format.

Why it matters

Accessible documents employ appropriate headings and other structure, images with alternative text, and text that has strong contrast with its background. All these features maximize engagement and support an overall better user experience.

Week 2 Assignment

  1. Review your copy of the PDF List Template and sort by column D. 
  2. Convert identified PDFs to by opening in Acrobat, File, Export to: Word. Then upload to Google Docs and make accessible or keep as Word Doc and make accessible.
  3. Add identified PDF content to AsULearn as a page or book.
  4. Update your PDF List Google sheet with:
    1. Time you spent on each conversion, or if you could not complete the conversion, list the reason you could not complete the conversion.
    2. Date republished to your website and/or course.
