Physical Accessibility

Maps

Due to the natural terrain and on-going enhancements to better campus, individuals are encouraged to review both Campus Maps and current construction projects to help with route planning and allocating sufficient time to navigate campus. To see the location of access ramps on campus, select "Accessibility" as the Location option in Campus Maps. Current construction projects are listed on the Planning, Design and Construction site.

Mobility Devices

It is recommended that guests with limited mobility work with a medical supply store or pharmacy for short term wheelchair or mobility device options/rentals as wheelchairs or other personal mobility devices are not provided on campus.

Parking

The University Parking and Transportation Department is responsible for providing parking services and traffic control for all faculty, staff, students and visitors to the campus. All individuals with a DMV issued disability placard (temporary or permanent) must also obtain an applicable university permit.

Individuals with questions regarding accessible parking should contact Parking and Transportation directly.

AppalCart Transit

AppalCart is the transportation authority serving Watauga County and Appalachian State University and includes accessibility features/services for individuals with disabilities. Appalachian State University does not provide transportation services and there is no intercampus transportation.
